Pukefest 2010

We decided to kick off summer vacation with a trip to Gardner Caves up by the canadian border. It takes about 2 hours to get there, which is about 1 hours and 50 minutes longer than Daniel's stomach could handle. We had a vanload of kids that day. Daniel and his buddy were in the farthest back seat. (I prefer to stick the smelliest ones farthest away from my nose.)

The last leg of the trip takes place on a very narrow and winding road. We were stuck behind a car full of senior citizens out for a leisurly drive that consisted of them going 40 miles per hour. Daniel's buddy informed us that Daniel looked like he was about to, "blow chunks." This brought a sense of urgency to the last leg of our trip. I desided to pass the cadillac. Well the acceleration and turning at the same time was all that Daniel's stomach needed. I look back to see Daniel's head pressed against the back window. The people that got the real show were the old folks that we passed.
We had only 5 minutes left of our jounrey by then. It took some time for the smell to work it's way up to the front of the van. When it did it set off Anna's tummy and she was next to blow. Luckily by this time we were in the parking lot of the park so we were able to get her out and cleaned up soon, but then Jakey's little buddy kneeled in it getting out of the van. UGH!! But being the wonderful mom that I am I had plenty of wipes to clean up the floor, kids and then to tackle the back door and back bumper, which had it's own lake of vomit. After that we had a lovely day! No one else got sick and we all had a fantastic time. I will blog about Garnder Caves later.

Poems, By Ike

Yes you read that right. Ike is a poet. we didn't even know it!! he had to write a book of poetry at school. I laughed out loud reading it. i will share with you some poems from it through out the next week. it is just too good and too long to put all in one post.

GIRLS

Girls are so strange

Only in every way

They talk too much

They're aliens I say

Most of the time they are sick and wrong

I oh so wish that they were gone

Their brain is just a gossip ring

And their mouth is a moving machine

Plus they all want to invade super stars

So I called the cops, now their behind bars

a lesson in anatomy gone wrong, oh so wrong.

Ike found an book on the central nervous system in his class and proceeded to read it. I thought, good for him. At dinner the following night he shared with us what he had learned.


1. Punch someone under the ribs on the left side. that is where the stomach is.

2. Punch them on the side of the head behind the ear lobe. Mass of nerves located there

3.Hit someone at the base of the skull with a blunt object to inflict maximum damage to the neck and head.

I could go on and on, but I choose not to because by the time he got to #4 I was thinking, "Where did I go wrong?" The strange part is that Ike is not a brawler. He had never been in a fight. I think if he were to actually get into one he would run home as fast as his little legs could carry him.

Needless to say, I usually don't look forward to dinner conversations. I tend to lose my appetite quite rapidly once the boys start sharing what they learned that day.

Tubbs Hill

This was our first hike up Tubbs Hill. We did not make it very far due to little legs. I really want to go back with the boys and to the whole loop. it is very beautiful. The only problem was the trail was really crowded.

It started off by visiting a friendly moose ( another trail for another day)
Daniel thought he was so clever. i wanted a picture with all the kids but he hid behind the moose.

I was so scared that the younger three would plummet into the lake!! sometimes they had to tell me, "mommy, your hurting my hands." because i was holding it so hard. but there were spots that it was a straight drop!!

They whined so much. their legs were killing them, their feet hurt, their tummies were rumbling, they were thirsty, their backs hurt.........on and on the whining went. The older two did their best to distance themselves from the sound. i don't blame them. i can be really loud when i whine.

I took this picture to that way i can prove i did give them water. we packed a pinic lunch too but i was too nervous with the kids eating and roaming around to grab my camara and take a picture. Jakey's water bottle almost rolled off and fell into the water, and i could easily imagine him following it.

Jakey had Anna hold "Blood Lightening" while he climbed up, but told Anna that she could not let it touch the ground.

Pre-School graduation

All of our kids have gone to Ferris ELC. It is a pre-school program at Ferris High School run by the students. It is a great program and I recommend it to all my friends and the little ones just love being taught by highschoolers. Daniel hopes to participate in the program his senior year.

This was their "walk-out buddy", Maggie. Everyday she would walk the girls from the classroom to my car. Each kid in the classroom has their very own walk-out buddies. Maggie was the best. She would give them piggy back rides.

this is them singing songs about the farm. they knew these songs, i know they knew these songs because I heard them day in and day out. But when the time came they clamed up. Little finks!

I feel pretty!

These are the skirts Costco is carrying for little girls this summer. I love them!! I broke down and bought them something new. It took three trips to Costco to finally talk myself into them. they are very ruffely and wonderful for twirls. and the bonus, they come with little shorts under them which is a good things because these girls cannot keep there skirts down.

Jake's first grade music program

Jakey spends most of his time in his own world, population ONE. you will see him slip in and out of it throughout the program. always entertaining to watch. you can here the mother next to me laughing at him.
